Meters, but no balance
Readings sit in SCADA and logbooks. Nobody closes the balance up to the last usage point, so no one can say exactly where the water went.
Water Balance Ledger turns the flow transmitters into a live water balance for every department and your whole site. Spot losses the day they start, see what water really costs per unit of product, and have your water figures ready for reporting without a spreadsheet.
Most sites have flow meters on the main lines, a SCADA screen and a monthly report. What they lack is one place where those numbers add up, department by department.
Readings sit in SCADA and logbooks. Nobody closes the balance up to the last usage point, so no one can say exactly where the water went.
Leaks, unmetered hoses and passing valves show up only as an unexplained difference at month end, long after the water is gone.
A transmitter out of calibration quietly distorts every figure built on it, while calibration dates live in a separate register.
Pumping, softening, ETP running cost and CETP charges are rarely added up and charged back per department or per unit of product.
Groundwater NOC and consent-to-operate limits are checked after the fact, not while the plant is running.
Water-positive and reduction targets are set at board level, but without a daily, metered balance there is no baseline to start from and no way to prove progress.
One trusted dataset
Is water under control, and where isn't it?
From daily action to disclosure
Every screen below is the real product, running on sample data.
Twenty figures grouped the way management thinks about water: what comes in, how it is used, where it goes, what the ETP recovers and what it all costs. Each figure shows design against actual. Tap any one to see its trend.
Block diagrams for the whole site, for each department and for all departments on one sheet. Line width follows flow, and production, water per unit and cost sit under every diagram. Add a department and its diagram appears.
Every flow, department total, KPI, cost and mismatch has a trend graph. Pick last month, this financial year, a calendar year or any custom range, and view daily, weekly or monthly averages against design.
Water withdrawal by source, consumption, discharge by destination and treatment level, recycling and intensity figures, laid out the way BRSR Principle 6, GRI 303 and CDP Water ask for them.
The ledger reads the site, department and sub-process views against design and turns the gaps into a short, ranked action list, with the evidence behind each item and a clear next step.
| Priority | Concern | What the ledger shows | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| High | Fresh water per metre is 10% over design | 14.2 vs 12.9 L/m · production −5%, intake +4% (1,209 vs 1,160) | Set a daily L/m target per department; start with jet dyeing (fresh 246 vs 220, +12%) |
| High | Unaccounted water in three places | Domestic & Canteen 8.6 (10%) · Printing & Finishing 7.2 (6.3%) · jet dyeing 10 | Leak walk and night-flow test this week; sub-meter canteen and washrooms |
| High | Meters that can't be trusted yet | FT-001B (MIDC) calibration 41 days overdue · negative unaccounted: pre-treatment −2.2, continuous range −3 | Calibrate FT-001B; check pre-treatment and continuous-range meters before acting on their figures |
| Medium | Recovery below design, discharge above | RO permeate 633 vs 650 · recovery 44.5% vs 46.2% · discharge 668 vs 640 (+4%) | Check RO fouling and recovery set-point; review ETP losses (120 vs 117) |
| Medium | More groundwater, less rainwater | Borewell 742 vs 700 (+6%) · rainwater used 22 vs 40 (−45%) | Use harvested rainwater first; check RWH storage and transfer pump; track against NOC limit |
| Medium | Utilities losing more to evaporation | Utilities in 370 vs 350 · evaporation 309 vs 288 (+7%) | Raise cooling-tower cycles of concentration; check blowdown control and drift eliminators |
| Cost | Water cost per metre up 6.5% | ₹1,696 vs ₹1,593 per 1,000 m · treated effluent 70% of cost (₹72/m³ vs ₹20/m³ to buy) | Cut wastewater in pre-treatment and dyeing (85% of ETP cost): counter-current rinsing, last-rinse reuse |
When every litre is accounted for, the savings are easier to find and easier to improve.
Cut withdrawal, raise reuse and harvest more rainwater until your plant saves or returns more water than it takes. The ledger tracks withdrawal, recycling, rainwater and consumption every day, so your progress toward water positive is measured, not estimated.
Header-versus-branch checks flag a gap the day it opens, and show which department and which meters to look at.
See intake, treatment and discharge cost by department and per unit of product, and go after the biggest spender first.
Track m³ per tonne, metre or batch against design every day, for the site and for each department.
Recycled share and ETP recovery are tracked daily, so reuse targets are managed, not just reported.
Alerts when groundwater abstraction or treated discharge approaches the NOC and consent-to-operate limits.
BRSR, GRI 303 and CDP water figures backed by meter data, calibration records and a full audit log.
